At the May 24th General Meeting, we will be voting on amending our PTA’s Standing Rules as proposed by the Standing Rules Committee. Please review the proposed amendments prior to the meeting by clicking here. Paper copies will also be available at the meeting if needed.

SUPER VOLUNTEERS! And Keep on Clipping!

Bear Creek Volunteers are the best!  For the month of March Bear Creek PTA volunteers logged 1237 hours! Way to GO TEAM!

 

Keep on clipping those Box Tops for Education. Bear Creek Just received a check for over $2000 for those box tops submitted up to March. Great Job to our Box Tops Chair Megan Sullivan. Every bit adds up!

The GCISD parent satisfaction survey is now open for you to give your feedback about Bear Creek.

Spring Dance is coming May 4th! 7-9 pm

Spring Dance is May 4th ! 7-9pm. Tickets are $2/person and will be sold before and after school starting April 30th. We NEED YOUR HELP!! Can you sell tickets before or after school? Sell Concessions for a 30 minute shift at the dance? Help with Dance clean up?  If you can help in any of these areas we need you… just a little bit of your time can help make this event a success. Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night

Join us at Chick-Fil-A on Thursday, April 26, from 4 to 9 p.m. You do not have to have a flyer — just say you are with Bear Creek Elementary, and they will mark this on your receipt. We will receive a portion on the sales!

Reminder: Teacher Appreciation Week donations due

Next week, PTA is giving appreciation gifts to each teacher and staff at Bear Creek. To fund this, we need your donations ($5 suggested) no later than this Friday, April 27. Please turn in your donation to your Home Room parent via your child’s folder. Contact Jennifer Stark, randjstark@yahoo.com, with questions.

Kindergarten Round Up

Reminder: GCISD trustee candidate forum is tonight @ 7 p.m.

School district trustees make important and long-term decisions for our district. Six people are running to fill two seats on the GCISD Board of Trustees. Get informed before you vote by attending the “Board of Trustees Candidate Forum” on Wednesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. at the Grapevine High School Library.

The forum immediately follows the General Meeting Council of PTAs. The forum is hosted by the GCISD Council of PTAs and moderated by the Tarrant County League of Women Voters. All candidates have been invited to participate in the debate-style question and answer session, in which they will respond to questions asked by the audience.

Early voting is April 30 to May 8.  Election Day is May 12 at Bear Creek.

Preview: Spirit Week and Spring Dance

Here’s all you need to know to prepare for this year’s School Spirit Week and Spring Dance:

Bear Creek PTA Spring Dance

Friday, May 4
7-9 pm
Bear Creek gym

This year’s dance will have a beach theme. Tickets are $2/person and will be on sale before and after school during the week before the dance. NO DROP OFFS! Students must attend with an adult. Come for fun door prizes, dancing, limbo contest. Snacks are on sale for 50 cents to $1.50. Cool photo booth is $3/picture.

Volunteers are needed to help sell tickets, set up, clean up, sell concessions. Contact Lilly Monson (lillymonson@gmail.com) or Vickie Thompson  (vaulds@sbcglobal.net).

School Spirit Week

Wear your spirit gear the week of April 30 to May 4! Prizes will be given out throughout the day for best outfits — free spirit bracelets, coupons for free dance tickets and free concessions.

  • Monday, April 30: School Spirit. Wear your school t-shirt.
  • Tuesday, May 1: Blue and Gold Bears. Wear your best all blue, all gold, and/or all “bear.”
  • Wednesday, May 2: Crazy Sock Day. Mix and match!
  • Thursday, May 3: Crazy Hair Day. Craziest hairdo — but NO HAIR COLORS.
  • Friday, May 4: Surfing/Hawaiian. Hawaiian shirts and surf-themed clothes.

News of the Week: Picture Day, Teacher Appreciation, GCISD Trustee and Anniversary Info

Picture Day is Thursday, April 5 … and there’s no school on Friday, April 6.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Home Room Parents have started collecting donations toward the purchase of gifts for all home room and specials teachers (art, science, P.E., etc.), and for every staff member.  We are also planning to purchase a special gift for all staff to use. We suggest a $5 donation. Students can vote for their favorite teachers and staff in the ballot box in the school lobby. Also needed are volunteers to help cover your child’s class during the luncheon on Friday, May 4, and to provide a breakfast item for the staff that week. Volunteer Background Checks

Volunteers are needed for many upcoming activities at Bear Creek, including Teacher Appreciation Week, School Dance, Career Day, and Field Day. You must complete a volunteer background check each school year (if you’ve already done this year, you don’t have to do it again until August). It’s easy and free — click here.

GCISD Trustee Candidate Forum

Six candidates have filed for a place on the ballot for the GCISD Board of Trustees election to fill two seats.   Click here for candidate information. You are invited to attend the “Board of Trustees Candidate Forum” on April 18 at the Grapevine High School Library. The forum immediately follows the General Meeting Council of PTAs, which begins at 7 p.m.  The forum will be a round table question and answer for those running for GCISD school board of trustees. Early voting is April 30 to May 8.  Election Day is May 12 at Bear Creek.

GCISD 50th Anniversary Celebration

On April 12, the GCISD Administration will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the consolidation of the Grapevine and Colleyville school districts. Enjoy the festivities from 4:30 to 6:60 at the GCISD Administration Building, 3051 Ira E. Woods Avenue.  The middle school and high school bands and choirs will perform, and memorabilia from schools will be displayed.
