Dine out to benefit Bear Creek

Today (Thursday, October 25), dine at Chick-Fil-A and mention Bear Creek when ordering.

Trunk or Treat

Bear Creek’s parking lot is turned into candy headquarters for children 12 and under during our annual Trunk or Treat event tomorrow (Friday, October 26) from 7 to 8 p.m. Wear your costumes. If you would like to decorate your trunk and park in the lot and distribute candy from your trunk, please arrive early and remain in the parking lot for the entire hour. If you do not wish to park in the lot, but plan to attend, there will be a box in the school lobby the week of the event to drop off bags of candy that can be passed out from the cars. We need your candy donations so all the trick-or-treaters can receive candy. For more information, contact Linda Stevenson, Trunk or Treat Chair, 817-456-7238 or stevenson_linda@ymail.com.

Fall Festival Poster Contest

Make a poster advertising the upcoming Fall Festival! All contest participants will receive 5 free festival tickets.  Best poster: Two winners will be selected (one boy and one girl), and they will be the King and Queen of the Fall Festival and receive an all-access wristband to all the events of the festival. POSTER DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 26.

WHAT TO PUT ON YOUR POSTER:

  • Date: Saturday, November 10
  • Time: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tickets will be sold via pre-order form the week before the festival.
  • Tickets will not be sold before and after school.

Put your name, grade, and teacher on the back of your poster. Turn your poster in at the front office.

Fall Festival tickets to be sold by pre-order form

Our PTA’s annual Fall Festival is a family-friendly afternoon of games, fun, and food. New this year, we will not be selling tickets before and after school. We will send home an order form in your child’s folder, and you may pre-order tickets the week before the festival. You may also purchase tickets at the Festival.

Trunk or Treat

Our annual Trunk or Treat event will be in the Bear Creek Elementary parking lot on October 26 from 7 to 8 p.m. We are anticipating approximately 400 children, so each car will need to provide enough candy for all the trick-or-treaters! If you do not wish to park in the lot, but plan to participate, there will be a box in the school lobby the week of the event to drop off bags of candy that can be passed out from the cars. We are asking people to decorate their trunks and remain in the parking lot for the entire hour. Please remember the event is for children 12 years old and under. Order school supplies online

It’s time to order next year’s school supplies online and get them shipped to your house in August! This convenience for you also is a fundraiser to benefit Bear Creek students. Click here to visit epipacks.com to order. Our school code is bea020. Order now through June 25.

Or, if you’re the type to shop all summer for school supplies, you can find your student’s school supply list here: http://www.gcisd-k12.org//site/Default.aspx?PageID=19800

Four ways to prioritize reading this summer:

1. Choose from the GCISD summer reading lists. Click here to find a list of recommendations for your child’s grade.

2. Visit the Euless Public Library.  Sign up next week for the library’s summer reading challenge. Visit the library each week, usually Thursdays @ 2 p.m., for a special activity or show of puppets, music, and more. You can save time and search the library catalog before you go.

3. Join bookstores’ reading reward programs. Try Barnes & Noble’s summer reading program and earn a free book.  Half Price Books offers a $5 gift card for reading 300 minutes.  (Click on the companies’ names above to learn how to sign up.)

4. Go electronic! Bear Creek students were given a password for accessing the district’s e-books. Click here for the online library. Or, if you have an iPhone or iPad, check out this list of apps for reading and learning.

Have other ideas for an enjoyable summer of reading? Share them with others on our Facebook Page!

Have a great summer!

Bear Creek PTA thanks our administrators, teachers, staff and volunteers for a great year.
